We invite you to nominate an exceptional leader in Wayne County!  This year, in addition to the ATHENA Leadership Award®, we are introducing the ATHENA Young Professional Leadership Award.

Deadline for submission for both awards is April 27, 2018 at 5:00 p.m.


ATHENA Leadership Award®

The ATHENA® Leadership Award celebrates exemplary leadership and is reflective of a quote by Plato: What is honored in a country will be cultivated there.  Over 7,000 recipients have been honored with the ATHENA® Leadership Award since the program’s inception in 1982.

Presented to leaders across professional sectors, the ATHENA® Leadership Award’s rich history, international scope and focus on mentorship distinguish it as one of the most prestigious leadership awards one can receive.

The Criteria

ATHENA® Leadership Award Nominees must meet each of the following three criteria:

  • Demonstrate excellence, creativity and initiative in their business or profession
  • Provide valuable service to improve the quality of life for others in their community
  • Actively assist women in achieving their full leadership potential

Qualifications

  • ATHENA® Leadership Award Nominees may represent either the profit or not-for-profit sector.
  • Previous ATHENA® Leadership Award Recipients are not eligible for nomination, however past nominees may be nominated again.
  • There is no minimum or maximum age qualification that must be met by ATHENA® Leadership Award Nominees.
  • Nominees from the previous year must wait a year before being nominated again.

Completing the Form

  • You are encouraged to work closely with your nominee to complete their nomination.
  • Nominations for the ATHENA® Leadership Award must be submitted using the provided nomination form (PDF or Online) and format.
  • The packet is VERY IMPORTANT and is a determining factor in deciding the winner.
  • You may include supporting documents (articles, testimonials, etc) with your completed nomination form. Limit 5 additional pages.
  • Deadline for submission: April 27, 2018 at 5:00 p.m. (no exceptions).

The Process

A Selection Committee, made up of a diverse group of community leaders, will review all nominations and select the ATHENA® Leadership Award Recipient. The recipient will be announced on June 21, 2018, at the ATHENA® Dinner at Forest Hills Country Club, 2169 South 23rd Street, Richmond, Indiana. ATHENA Young Professional Leadership Award

The ATHENA Young Professional Leadership Award actively supports and celebrates the ATHENA mission of supporting, developing and honoring women leaders, inspiring women to achieve their full potential—creating balance in leadership worldwide.

The ATHENA Young Professional Leadership Award honors emerging leaders. Candidates should be at least college age and have embarked on their career path.

The Criteria

ATHENA Young Professional Leadership Nominees are emerging women leaders who meet each of the following criteria:

  • Demonstrates excellence, creativity and initiative in her business or profession
  • Provides valuable service to improve the quality of life for others in her community
  • Clearly serves as a role model for young women both personally and professionally
  • 18-35 years of age

Qualifications

  • ATHENA Young Professional Award Nominees may represent either the profit or not-for-profit sector.
  • Previous ATHENA Young Professional Leadership Award Recipients are not eligible for nomination, however past nominees may be nominated again.
